Hi there! My name’s Adam, and I am 16 years old. I lived in Atlanta, Georgia until I was 10. I grew up on my grandparents' fourteen-acre farm. We had six dogs, and one of them lived for 98 dog years! My parents moved to New Jersey when I was 10 years old. We first moved to New York City, which was a huge change from rural Georgia. Wanting something more rural, we moved into a house in the suburbs of Jersey about six months later. The house must be about 90 years old, because it is very similar to the home we had in Georgia. I went hunting for the first time when I was five. My dad gave me “Old Betsy,” our beloved shotgun, to hold during our hike. He thought that he had unloaded every bullet, but there was still one in the chamber. We were out in the woods for an hour when suddenly a pack of deer ran by us. I swiveled around to track their movement and shot the last one in the left hind leg just like my dad has taught me to do. The deer went down like a dog chasing a barrel rolling down hill that’s full of fried bacon in eggs! We took that deer’s head and mounted it on our wall right over the fireplace. I love to read non-fiction books that have some historical significance. I also love history in all its forms, even if the history that I am learning is particularly depressing. I have a particular interest in military history. I study military history for hours over the weekend. I don’t want to necessarily join the army, but I would if I am unable to be a doctor. I love to watch doctor shows. My favorite is House. My favorite quote in that show is: “Internal bleeding after a car accident? Wow! That’s shocking!” This quote shows that you can poke fun at absolutely anything and that is the motto that I live by.
